HOW TO BUY TICKETS FOR THE ANNUAL
LIGHT INFANTRY REUNION
Posted by Keith Bath. BEM

2010 annual Reunion weekend will be
held at:

Copthorne Barracks
Shrewsbury
Dates to be confirmed

The following information is supplied by
Doc Halliday ex KSLI/3LI:

However there have been a number of changes, the first is good news in that Lt Col Ron Bevan who has served with the KSLI, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Battalions of the Light Infantry will be organising and running the weekend full time.

The second change is as many of you will know, that the whole Light Infantry Organisation throughout the Country has been incorporated into the new Regiment "The Rifles ". For the reunion this means that funding has drastically changed. Because there are now four former main Regimental reunions and in the case of the Gloucester, Berkshire and Wiltshire other subsidiary ones the central fund has allocated the sum of £100,000 to each to be invested so as to produce an annual income of roughly £10,000 towards the cost of the Regimental reunions.

Geographically our former Soldiers are spread from Cornwall to Durham and a reunion on a single night is impractical so Nesscliffe camp near Shrewsbury has been utilised, but transport costs, tentage, insurance,

and administration costs for the weekend cannot be covered by the interest raised.

Following a pilot scheme last year of holding a prize Draw it has been decided to extend and expand it for this year. General Brims has asked me to organise this and work with Ron Bevan to produce it. The income from the Light Infantry/Rifles Association Prize draw will be divided between our support for retired former soldiers at their reunion and supporting our men on combat operations abroad.

I like you have had the honour of serving in a Light Infantry Battalion, I hope everyone will support our reunion because I believe it is essential in keeping our links and our comradeship, and hope too that you will also show your support for the men who wear a Green Beret and a Silver Bugle today, that are on operations once more.

We are asking all former Light Infantrymen to sell as many books of tickets as they can between now and June. Could I ask that you send me your postal address to my e-mail address at the link below so that I can send you a couple of books. If you belong to an LI Branch tickets will be sent there.
