FREEDOM OF WAKEFIELD - SATURDAY 11th SEPTEMBER 2010


The parade will form up on the pavement on SMYTH STREET at 1030 hrs under RSM 3 RIFLES. 

Being a Rifle Regiment who do not carry Colours, Standards will not be carried on Parade.

The Parade will step off at 1100 hrs, and march to North Gate, opposite the West Door of the Cathedral.

There will be an Inspection by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, and Civic Dignateries accompanied by senior Riflemen.

This will be followed by the Freedom Ceremony.  On conclusion, the Parade will exercise the Freedom of the City.

The Cadet contingent and ROC/Association, will not march the whole route, but will peel off to the rear of the Cathedral (Teal Street), then follow on as the troops come past.

The Parade will do a march past and return to the Start Point.

 Representative number from each Guard will attend the Civic Reception in the Town Hall.  This will commence at 1215 hrs and end at 1400 hrs

Free Car Parking is available at the Quebec Street car park, which is under the Railway Bridge and opposite WICKES

Anyone not in an Association but would like to attend the parade are more than welcome to attend as spectators or if you wish to march with other Association members RV at the start point at 10.30hrs 



RIFLES CHALLENGE RACE MEETING, PONTEFRACT RACECOURSE – THURSDAY 16TH SEP 10


1. The RIFLES Challenge Race will take place at Pontefract Racecourse on Thursday, 16th September 2010. During the course of the meeting one of the races will be sponsored by The RIFLES. This is the RIFLES Challenge which starts at 2.30pm. The event will take the same form as when it was last held in Sep 08. As then a number of guests will be invited and asked to lunch.
Note this event is the main RIFLES event in Yorkshire this year.

2. The RIFLES Bugle will be presented to the winning owner in the Winners’
Enclosure after the race. Buglers from The RIFLES Band and Bugles will sound a fanfare at the start of the race and at the presentation. The RIFLES Recruiting Team Yorkshire will also be present.

3. Lunch will be in the Dalby Stand. This will cost £29.00 per person and includes wine. There is an additional charge for badges of £20.00p and there will be a cash bar throughout the day. It is suggested all arrive at 12.30pm and start lunch at 1.00pm. The first race will start at about 2.30pm.

4. If you would like to come please complete the proforma and return either by post or email by no later than 1 Sep 10. Further details and badges will be forwarded to you the week before the meeting.

A Musical Spectacular to celebrate 150 years of the Cadet Movement - Friday 29th October 2010


The Army Cadet Force Music Department are proud to annouce their 150th Anniversary Concert. The
combined bands and drums of the Army Cadet Force supported by the musicians of the Sea Cadet
Corps, Air Training Corps & Combined Cadet Force will join together at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon
on the 29th October 2010 with all profits being donated to The Help for Heroes Charity.
